Follow-up Activity Write 5 interrogative and 5 exclamatory sentences on 10 individual sheets of paper - one sentence per sheet. Cut the sentences in two where the break naturally occurs between the subject and the predicate. Divide the class into teams. Give each team a set of the cut up sentences with the instructions that they are to figure out how they go together and then put the proper punctuation at the end of each sentence. The first team that gets all 10 sentences correct with the correct punctuation wins. Challenge Activity Challenge the students to write 2 interrogative and 2 exclamatory sentences on individual pieces of paper. Have each student cut their sentences into 2 pieces separating the subject from predicate. With a partner have the students exchange their sentences. Then each student tries to put their partner’s sentences in the correct order. To finish they must identify the interrogative and exclamatory sentences. |
