Synopsis: In 1831, 22-year-old Charles Darwin set sail on a five-year survey expedition for the British Empire. Toward the end of his journey he explored the Galapagos Islands and studied their exotic plant and animal life. Twenty-five years later, this research contributed to the development of Darwin’s theory of Natural Selection. He was the first to offer a plausible naturalistic mechanism that produced biological change. Today however, as scientists uncover the incredible complexity of life the following question arises. Does Natural Selection adequately explain the origin and complexity of life on Earth? |
